Keratex Hoof Putty is great for repairing holes in the soles of a horse’s feet, enabling the owner to turn out with confidence after the cavity has been plugged with Hoof Putty.

It is particularly useful when your horse is recovering from an abscess, puncture or hoof separation.

It can be used in the following ways:

  • To plug a small, uninfected puncture hole after thoroughly disinfecting the area, allowing you to turn out straight away when a poultice is not required

  • To plug a puncture or hole left behind after an abscess has been cleared and drained, after thoroughly disinfecting the area, when a poultice is required, allowing you to turn out with confidence after the poultice has been removed

  • Farriers often use it as an additional shock absorber and comforter when used between the lily pad and frog in ponies with spring grass-related problems.

To use, simply mould the adhesive putty in clean hands and press into the cavity until you have a dense plug for best results. Keratex Hoof Putty is a semi-permanent wax that seals and stabilises hoof separation, plus it prevents grit, mud, and debris from getting jammed up into the hole and damaging the recovery process. The adhesive filling mixture also disinfects making it the perfect aid to recovery after punctures, abscesses, and cavities.

Please note that Putty will be very hard while in the tin, as it sets to hoof-type consistency naturally for best results, but will soften in your hands as you mould the shape you require before re-setting once within the hoof. Keeping the tub at room temperature prior to use or warming it gently in a bowl of warm (not very hot) water will also help with the extraction of the putty from the tin.

Once these items leave our store, we cannot guarantee the conditions they have been stored in, such as temperature, humidity, or exposure to elements, which can affect their efficiency and safety. To ensure the health and well-being of your animals, we have a strict policy of no returns on vet products due to these uncontrollable factors. 2.1 (c) Return Authorisation:

If you need to return goods to us, please contact us by phone or email to obtain a returns authorisation within thirty (30) days of receipt of your product. Please note that we do not accept returns after this 30-day period.

2.3 Shipping Costs

Please note that unless the item is deemed faulty, shipping costs are non-refundable. We will cover the cost of return shipping only if the item is found to be faulty. For all other returns, the cost of return shipping will be the responsibility of the customer.

We appreciate your understanding as we strive to provide the best service while managing shipping costs effectively.

2.4 Any products purchased cannot be returned, exchanged, or replaced simply because you have changed your mind.

2.5 Our returns policy conforms with the regulations of the Office of Consumer Affairs Queensland.

2.6 Goods damaged in transit or due to faulty manufacture, subject to clause 13.6 should be returned for our inspection.

2.7 Replacement goods cannot be sent until we have received the returned goods.

2.8 We will refund any postage costs incurred in returning faulty goods.

2.9 Subject to clause 13.6 we will gladly refund your purchase if the goods supplied are faulty and we are unable to repair or find a replacement.

2.10 Any refund we provide will be made using the same payment method as used to purchase the goods.

3. Exchange of products

3.1 Gympie Saddleworld & Country Clothing will only accept goods for exchange when the goods are returned in unused condition with all tags and labels attached. The customer is responsible for the postage costs both ways if the product chosen needs to be exchanged. 

3.2 All exchanges will be charged at the usual postage rate when returned to you.

3.3 We do not accept any responsibility for goods lost in return transit.
