100% pure Swedish pine tar. For treatment of corns, split hooves, cracks and minor kin or hoof infections. A natural antiseptic to help heal skin wounds and hoof diseases, such as thrush.

Equinade Pure Stockholm Tar is made from 100% pure genuine Swedish pine tar. Since the 1400s, the best tar in the world has come from the dense pine forests in Stockholm, Sweden. Stockholm held a monopoly for selling pine tar and so the premium form of the product became known as "Stockholm Tar". Substitute materials are marketed as stockholm tar, but should not be used as a veterinary product. Whilst black in colour, the substitute is a residue of charcoal
production (poly phenolic liquor) which contains hazardous chemicals and up to 22% water. Coal tar is also used as a substitute which contains the toxic and hazardous benzopyrene (C2OH12). This is why Equinade uses the natural, premium Stockholm Tar and packs it in it's purest form. This high quality pine tar is produced using closed kilns to extract the valuable sap, without toxic bi-products being produced eg; creosote.

Equinade Pure Stockholm Tar has a variety of benefits and uses:

Non-toxic and does not contain water, petroleum based chemicals or carcinogenic creosote
The natural antiseptic action helps to combat bacterial infections of the hoof and skin, including thrush
Assists in the treatment of split hooves, split heels, cracks and corns. Promotes a flexible and elastic hoof
A valuable ingredient to make preparations such as soap, shampoo, animal dips and hoof applications.
Other applications include sealing and preventing infection of shearing wounds and when dehorning.
Also a natural way of sealing exposed branches after pruning.

Exchanges

We offer exchanges within 30 days of purchase. Items must be unused, in resaleable condition, with all tags and labels attached. To start an exchange, use our online returns portal (button above) or contact us within 30 days of receiving your item. We do not accept change-of-mind returns after this period.

The customer is responsible for return postage costs for change-of-mind exchanges, including postage both ways. Exchanged items are sent back to you at our usual postage rate. We recommend using tracked postage, as we cannot accept responsibility for goods lost in return transit. Sale and clearance items are final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged.

Refunds

I love this product, I find it’s the best to treat open wounds. We had a bull with big cuts on his leg . We couldn’t bandage it so I put Stockholm tar on it and now you can’t even see where it was cut. Highly recommended.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do Ariat boots run true to size?

Yes, in most styles. Ariat western boots use standard US sizing — use the international equivalents table above to convert your AU/UK size. If you are between sizes or have a wider foot, most customers go up a half size in pointed-toe styles.

How do I measure my head for a hat?

Wrap a tape measure around your head about 1cm above your ear, where the hat will sit. Match the measurement in cm to the Thomas Cook hat chart above — this covers most Akubra-style sizing too.

What's the difference between mid rise and high rise jeans?

Rise is the distance from the crotch to the top of the waistband. Mid rise (around 7–8") sits just below or at the waist; performance/high rise (8½"+) sits at or above the natural waist. The fit tables above show the exact rise for each jean model.
