SHIELD aids in the control of synthetic Pyrethroid susceptible nuisance flies, biting insects and Queensland Itch on horses. As a unique "pour-on" for horses, SHIELD not only repels flies longer than sprays, it's also easier to apply.

Simply pour it along the backline as per the directions. The insects will come in contact with Shield as the naturally migrate around the body. The dosage may be divided to target specific areas that are more prone to bites.

SHIELD controls the following biting insects:-

Domestic & Bush Flies - Stable Fly - Biting Midges - Buffalo Fly - Mosquitoes

Active Constituent: 40 g/L Permethrin (cis:trans 80:20)

Indications: Ready-to-use insecticidal pour-on for horses

For the control of Queensland Itch, treatment should start at the beginning of the season by applying once weekly (or more frequently as required – no more than twice weekly).
A few horses, particularly those of the fine-skinned Arab type, may react when treated with SHIELD for the first time.  In these cases, a small patch test is recommended as per the directions.
The efficacy of SHIELD may be influenced by rain and activities such as rugging, brushing or washing.  For best results allow 12-24 hours for SHIELD to dry before exposing your horse to these activities.

• A 250mL bottle will treat 1875 Kilo’s of bodyweight (approx. 6 x 500Kg horses)
• A 1Litre bottle will treat 7500 Kilo’s of bodyweight (approx 24 x 500Kg horses)

SHIELD is non-flammable, unlike sprays, and therefore won’t sting the horse on application.

Once these items leave our store, we cannot guarantee the conditions they have been stored in, such as temperature, humidity, or exposure to elements, which can affect their efficiency and safety. To ensure the health and well-being of your animals, we have a strict policy of no returns on vet products due to these uncontrollable factors. 2.1 (c) Return Authorisation:

If you need to return goods to us, please contact us by phone or email to obtain a returns authorisation within thirty (30) days of receipt of your product. Please note that we do not accept returns after this 30-day period.

2.3 Shipping Costs

Please note that unless the item is deemed faulty, shipping costs are non-refundable. We will cover the cost of return shipping only if the item is found to be faulty. For all other returns, the cost of return shipping will be the responsibility of the customer.

We appreciate your understanding as we strive to provide the best service while managing shipping costs effectively.

2.4 Any products purchased cannot be returned, exchanged, or replaced simply because you have changed your mind.

2.5 Our returns policy conforms with the regulations of the Office of Consumer Affairs Queensland.

2.6 Goods damaged in transit or due to faulty manufacture, subject to clause 13.6 should be returned for our inspection.

2.7 Replacement goods cannot be sent until we have received the returned goods.

2.8 We will refund any postage costs incurred in returning faulty goods.

2.9 Subject to clause 13.6 we will gladly refund your purchase if the goods supplied are faulty and we are unable to repair or find a replacement.

2.10 Any refund we provide will be made using the same payment method as used to purchase the goods.

3. Exchange of products

3.1 Gympie Saddleworld & Country Clothing will only accept goods for exchange when the goods are returned in unused condition with all tags and labels attached. The customer is responsible for the postage costs both ways if the product chosen needs to be exchanged. 

3.2 All exchanges will be charged at the usual postage rate when returned to you.

3.3 We do not accept any responsibility for goods lost in return transit.
